It's hard to think that that's only 3 years before I was born, but then that was only 20ish years after the end of WW2. Gawd, thanks for making me feel soooo old.

So, on your three days, I could buy a shed load of fireworks, scrape the gunpowder out of them, and make a big bomb at some later date. Er no. If fireworks have to be (which I think is wrong), then at least make sure they are only done by properly licenced businesses.

Even if only sold on 3 days, there are no constraints on when they’re let off.

Better option: not sold publicly at all. Restrict them to organised, licensed, public displays.

I was being a bit stupid in that game. Like you, I should have also gotten it in 2 given the letters in my first guess, but I was a tad worried that I wouldn't make 250 mark on my current streak, and that distracted me. However I did get there, so yippee!

My heart bleeds, not. Inheritance tax only applies to the dead, and they are beyond caring.

BTW, I hate auto complete.

I'm still hoping that the bulldozers will make a start on Heathrow's 3rd runway. Okay, as a green I'm against a new 3rd runway, but Johnson did say he would lie down in front of any bulldozers that might be used to build said runway, so to that extent, I'm in favour.

And where are they now - stuck on the back of a giant space turtle.

He'd have to have been in the UK to flee it. I thought that he now spends most of his time in the USA, toady up to the orange baby.

It would have been a few years more if he hadn't pleaded guilty, though as it stands, I'd be surprised if he serves more than 5 years behind bars as on the face of it, he's not a dangerous criminal.

Labour have no chance while they ape Farage & Co. Only the other day, the home sec, Shabana Mahmood, used the phrase illegal immigrant, and in the next sentence, referenced asylum seekers (who aren't illegal immigrants), which give me the impression that she was saying asylum seekers are illegal.

I put it down to my starting word. A word I came up with by finding one with as low a Scrabble score as possible that has two vowels. Rather ironic given my 6 today. One way or another though that word tends to rule out a lot of options.

In what way is that news? Puerto Rico is at least a US territory, so it's hardly surprising, but I live in the UK, and KC-135R Stratotanker are a common sight in the skies near Cambridge.

yikes, and YIKES.

yikes for the 6
YIKES because I was on streak of 248 (now 249).
I'm probably tempting fate by revealing that last bit.

I said that mansion it is likely to be leased for a peppercorn. If that's the case, then they don't own it, or at least not in anyway that HMRC can prove, and they occupy it in the same way that a holiday maker occupies a rented Air BnB holiday let. A mansion tax would achieve nothing.

What loopholes? Obviously everyone should pay whatever taxes are due on income earned in the UK, but I think it's wrong in principal to go after overseas income, even if that were possible.

Sorry, not sure how I got that wrong, though it is part of the country that I've never been to, not that that's an excuse.

If he wanted to, he could simple fly off to somewhere warm. He would still get his MP salary and his pension, even if he never bothered to visit West Minster again. If he resigned, he wouldn't get the cash, and Andy Burnham won't win a by-election in that part of the world. Beyond stupid.

Norwich is less than 20 miles from Clacton. If Clive Lewis thinks Labour, and especially Andy Burnham, have a cat's chance in hell of getting elected in a by-election, then he's deluding himself. If he doesn't want to be an MP, fine, there's nothing stopping him from jetting off to somewhere sunny.
