A tour-de-force by 1st authors Bruna Eckhardt & @palindromephd.bsky.social, focusing on chromatin replication. RTs welcome; tweetorial in 3,2...(1/n)
The eukaryotic replisome intrinsically generates asymmetric daughter chromatin fibers
DNA replication is molecularly asymmetric, due to distinct mechanisms for lagging and leading strand DNA synthesis. Whether chromatin assembly on newly replicated strands is also asymmetric remains un...

That's me! Thanks to Bob and Linda and Gladstone for the award and thanks to the organizers at @asbmb.bsky.social for giving me the opportunity to share some of our as-yet-unpublished collaborative work between the labs of @vram142.bsky.social and @fmattiroli.bsky.social !
Kudos to Hannah Richter, recipient of the Robert and Linda Mahley Career Advancement Award. With support from the award, she presented at The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology conference based on her work in collaboration with the Hubrecht Institute.

not paying indirect costs for research is like only paying the players in the Super Bowl.

can't have a Super Bowl without coaches, referees, security, janitors, announcers, stadium staff, and a stadium - and you can't have research without supporting people and facilities

Here's a cat, for some joy today. (Her name is Llamita and she embodies the concept of "tortitude")

I'm privileged to be pretty healthy and have always had insurance, but even then, I have spent a lot of time and energy fighting insurance. In grad school I had dual coverage, which meant neither insurance wanted to pay and recently my insurance told me that only people under 18 had acne. 🙄🤔

If you choose to operate a vehicle when you are not sober, I have no respect for you and would urge you to make better choices for the sake of others on the road. In an instant, you can permanently affect the lives of someone's family and friends.

The tsunami warning when I'm trying to coordinate finally bringing home my cat from the emergency vet after 3 days is wild. My emotions are very on edge.

Super recommend following the Groth lab and checking out their work - they're great collaborators too!
The Groth lab @grothlab.bsky.social has also made the jump from X to Bluesky🤩! Please follow us for all things related to chromatin replication, epigenetic memory and (epi)genome stability in the context of mitotic cell division! We'll start on joining some relevant starter packs!

Check out the latest and greatest from my postdoc lab! (I'm not on it but am working on some interesting follow-ups already...)
Excited to share the first story from my post-doc, co-led with Megan Ostrowski! Many thanks to @vram142.bsky.social and all our wonderful co-authors and collaborators for making this project a huge success: www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

Big banana slug and gorgeous San Francisco skyline - as seen from near the top of San Bruno mountain this past weekend. It's really important for me to get out of the house even when I'm very busy!

That's us! More exciting work coming soon but feel free to check out our publications and preprints!
Excited to finally see some sci-comm traction on this site! For the newbies, we (kamakshi.ucsf.edu) are a molbio / biochemistry / genomics lab in the Bay Area. We develop and apply new molecular methods to study chromatin-based regulation at high-resolution.
