The purge hit the USGS today. I took the day off, but to the best of my knowledge I survived this round. At least one of my coworkers wasn’t so lucky. A bunch of incredible scientists working on what in many instances is life saving work are now out of a job due to political animus.

This hits close to home. I knew the founding faculty there and met some of the current faculty a few months ago. Earth science is absolutely essential to a good education and modern civilization itself.
