The 2024 #Shropshire Barn Owl Group annual report is now available: shropshirebarnowlgroup.org.uk
Although as expected, breeding activity was down following a run of productive years, a very respectable 203 young Barn Owls were produced and 17 new pairs recorded.

The Shropshire Rookeries Survey is a big citizen science project for this year. Please go to www.lanius.org.uk/preview/ to check for sites near where you may be out and about and see if there are any you can update. It would be great to get more of those pins coloured in!

Apparently it is #BlackFlyDay (I think that's what it's called 😛) - here's a lovely velvety black hoverfly, Pipiza species (probably P. noctiluca) from Somerset last spring
