Misinformation *is* central to democratic problems today, but the solution is *not* to correct such epistemic failures directly. Instead, we must address them at their roots, in social identity.

Or so I argue in a new post for @apaphilosophy.bsky.social.

The Problem is Epistemic. The Solution is Not. | Blog of the APA
Doubts about the wisdom of the masses are as old as philosophy itself. Yet interest in democracy’s “epistemic” merits has surged in the last decade—and it is no mystery why. Democracy is collapsing ar...

As our country celebrates Veterans Day, Trump's MAGA regime has been given the keys to the castle after Democrats caved to GOP demands to end the shutdown. I look at Democratic leadership and blame their corruption for enabling Trump's cabinet.

Jury nullification is good and it's a good sign for America's path out of authoritarianism that juries are recognizing their power to nullify.

Oh also - lawyers aren’t allowed to tell jurors this so i do:

“Jury nullification” is a fancy phrase that just means, “This jury decided not to convict and there’s nothing anyone can do about that.”

If we think a law is unjust or unjustly enforced, we can just not convict. We don’t need a reason.

Forgive the Revolutionary War symbolism.

Today, NJ & VA were at a pivotal moment — just like during 2 defining periods of the Revolution. This time, two strong women stood against the pull of authoritarianism.

NJ & VA became beacons of victory & democratic strength for a nation needing it.

also want to point out that last time we voted on gerrymandering, we were solidly AGAINST it. that’s how much the tide has turned.
We ran through the tape on field efforts here, but organizers locally have also known Prop50 was in the bag for a while now.

Californians. Are. Pissed.
if you’re outside california, this seemed like such a foregone conclusion that in the past couple weeks the gop stopped running ads and newsom told dems they didn’t need to donate to the “yes on 50” effort anymore

Kat is being federally charged by the FBI for protesting at Broadview.

This is a flagrant political prosecution by the Trump administration, which is trying to prevent free speech and free association.

I am proud of Kat. Her movement is being targeted by the government. She needs your support.
I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
