Tomorrow begins National Library Week.

Name something your local library does that's cool, whether it's a program or a resource or whatever.

I'm a librarian and my library offers free classes on 3D printing, laser cutting, soldering, sewing, and a lot more. And we offer them in Spanish & English!
Hey, tomorrow begins National Library Week.

Name something your local library does that's cool, whether it's a program or a resource or whatever.

Mine has a board game library you can check out. (And I helped choose the collection!)
i'm holding your hands, gently

april 7 is the start of national library week. get your library card. write your library board. check out 10 books. use your library. do it.

“Sewing your own clothes to avoid tariffs” seems like a good idea until you realize it’s very expensive, takes a ton of time, and just about every component — from fabric and thread to sewing machines — are made abroad. I do think this is a great time to learn how to mend clothes, though!

I'm not really a fan of Booker's, but the kind of theatre he's doing now should be a basic competency for major Democratic figures — something people do even if they're not running for president in the next cycle.
This pointless stunt by Cory Booker is accomplishing nothing but drawing attention to the Trump administration’s wrongdoing and delaying the work of the Senate and energizing the Democratic base and, wait, hang on, let me come in again

If you're satisfied with Dems after this, or are ready to forgive them for fucking up their points of high leverage (nominations and the funding bill) in exchange for this, I'm probably not someone you want to follow on here

On April 5, I am joining thousands of people as we march on Washington and demand an end to the genocide and an arms embargo NOW. We will not be deterred by the Trump admin's attempts to quell our movement. Join us - find bus info at marchforpalestine.org. Talk to me about making a plan to be there.

DOGE has just completely gutted the IMLS, firing all staff, closing down their email addresses, and leaving any funding for 2025 in question.

Find in here links to what this federal money supports in (almost) each state, too.

The Institute for Museum and Library Services Was Just Gutted
DOGE fired all IMLS employees and closed down their emails. It is assumed all funding for 2025 coming from the federal agency will not be happening.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

YAY!!!

More of this! More of this!

Even if what you do is literally show up, you're making a statement.
I went to a library board meeting last night, as the only member of the public. They were very glad to have me, and it was inspiring to be there. Thanks to you for the encouragement

Everyone doing this work for any period of time knew this was coming.

It's no longer "I'll do it some day," as so many thought to themselves when we threw warnings out in 2020, then 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

NOW is beyond time for doing something to protect your libraries.
