Today was a big sigh of relief for Vancouver municipal politics.

Voters sent a loud an clear message to ABC that the "mandate" they received last election doesn't mean they can do whatever the hell they want and expect continued support.

Lots of time to go before the 2026 election though.

Can @jaimestein.bsky.social explain why someone is texting him insulting slurs about my daughter and her friend, while also taking pictures of indigenous women standing in line to VOTE? cc: @lucymaloney.bsky.social @seanorr.bsky.social #bcpoli #yvr

Ken Sim has some strange connections to shady businesses, which I've documented before, but I wasn't expecting last week's announcement of a Vancouver Bitcoin Reserve to be tied to a crypto-advocate who funded the convoy.

Buckle up.

Hey #Vancouver, look at the vote split here and then think long and hard which side of this issue the person who will replace @christineboyle.bsky.social might fall. The upcoming byelection will be critical to the future of the city.
The nays have it - Montague's July amendment -inspired recommendation to re-introduce gas for space and hot water heating in new construction in Vancouver FAILS!

This upcoming Vancouver municipal by-election will be incredibly important. Zero doubt that ABC will be running someone who will fall in line with their currently fractured caucus. I really hope parties left of centre can get their shit together behind one strong candidate.

This Tuesday, council votes on whether to go back to allowing natural gas for heating buildings in Vancouver. I want to take a look at the stated reasons behind this move, and assess their accuracy. A bit of a long thread but an important one... 🧵
