This is the most telling aspect of this move: if the stated goal is purely financial gain, then fund science at higher rates. So we'll raze our national economy to own...scientists? Who study cancer? Or earthquakes? Or cheaper renewable energy?
Investing in basic science more than pays for itself! Cutting NSF and NIH would hurt the US economy. (Now might be a good time to remind your congressional reps about this)

Please amplify and help keep American science great.

This is an absolute disaster. If we don't stop this, they will turn NSF into a pawn of the Trump administration. There will be no research on climate, biodiversity, or anything that isn't eugenics or AI or how to more efficiently destroy the planet for profit.

This cannot be allowed to happen.

Under pressure from the Trump administration, the National Science Foundation (NSF), a $9 billion agency funding scientific research that has made America great, has canceled over a thousand grants and slowed new funding. That's just the beginning and will get way worse unless Congress intervenes.

Elon backtracked on DOGE savings goals from $1 trillion to $150 billion.

But watchdogs report only $12.6 billion in verifiable savings.

That represents just 0.173% of the U.S. federal budget for 2025.

We're losing vital government services for basically nothing in return.
