I’m noticing a group of anonymous accounts jumping into my general election analysis posts expressing their disgust at the election claiming it’s undemocratic. When asked what constituency or candidates they had they go quiet.

Of the 95 TDs elected so far, nearly 70 are white, middle-aged men—not exactly a diverse group.

Irish far-right accounts on X have already started to seed a 'stop the steal' narrative around #GE24 - this time it's more focused on ID fraud than the 'foreign interference' claims we saw during the locals and Europeans in June (though there are still efforts to push that narrative too).

Just reading a few non-Irish analyses of the general election exit poll. So to avoid further bunkum, nonsense & balderdash here are some facts.

1. Ireland is a multi-party system.
2. Irish elections are NOT first past the post. They are proportional representation. There are no lists.
