Bedlam at the Bank™️ might not be a thing without Ranger’s 2-pitch save.

Bobby Abreu had a 10-year stretch (1998-2007) where he slashed .302/.411/.505 with 218 home runs, 289 steals, a 137 wRC+, and 52.3 WAR. During that time, he somehow made just two All-Star teams and never finished higher than 14th in MVP voting.

#HBD Fergie Jenkins, 83 today. Phillies P 1965-66. The trade that sent him to the Cubs was one of the worst in franchise history. I'd argue perhaps even worse than that other one they made with the Cubs 16 years later. Imagine Carlton and Jenkins at the top of the rotation together in the 70s,...

Roberto Alomar, Carmelo Martínez, Edgar Martínez, Rey Sánchez, Rubén Sierra, Carlos Baerga, Bernie Williams, Juan González, and Carlos Delgado. All in the same 1995 winter ball lineup. Good lord.

The team hit .346/.426/.533 and dominated the 1995 Caribbean Series.

new @fangraphs.com: Carlos Delgado went one-and-done on the 2015 ballot. Despite his 473 homers, he doesn't stack up well in WAR/JAWS, but his willingness to speak out against injustice makes him one of the most interesting HOF candidates I've covered.

I missed a big birthday over the weekend. Víctor Pellot Power was born 98 years and 2 days ago. One of the smoothest dudes to ever play the game, Power had over 1700 hits in the majors, won 7 Gold Gloves, and had 4 All-Star seasons. He’s a HOFer in his native Puerto Rico and has over 3500 pro hits.

Both of the starters were very good tonight, but despite the ESPN announcers laboring to make them the same, Sanchez had thrown like 20-25 fewer pitches than Morton five innings in. He was just a monster in this outing.
