Also, I probably overstated the correlation, which is pretty weak. He's down in IVB from his 2022-23 peak, but still higher than early in his career, and he actually had a slight year-over-year uptick.

I think they need to stop this arm angle from creeping up any higher. It’s also raising his release point and he’s seeing reduced IVB. His FB was much more effective with a lower release point and higher IVB.

Baseball America picked Michael Forret as the Orioles breakout prospect candidate for this year. @afkostka.bsky.social asked my thoughts on him in the live chat last week. Here’s what I said (copy in the alt text).

Adam Jones’s career is an almost perfect representation of the aging bell curve. He declined slightly faster than I might have expected but not out of line for someone who got a lot of value from playing CF.

It’s so symmetrical it’s beautiful, peaking at ages 26-28, just like they draw it up.

I'm not sure you can say it's gone "incredibly well" for Lopez and King when both of them experienced serious arm injuries the year after their starter conversion. Well, it went incredibly well in that it made them way more money than they would have otherwise earned.

Slapped the 45 FV, second-division starter label on EBJ, which seems to be where the industry is coalescing. Find him a RHH platoon option and you're probably in business for '27 on.

No idea what Mike is up to but at least there's this

It’s kind of beautiful, in its way

The Tucker stuff feels so divorced from reality I can’t even take it seriously, but here you have actual quotes from actual executives saying Mike is going all out.

This plus a 55 power grade seems to bode well. He probably won't walk a lot, but should hit for a decent average with .150-.180 ISO.

All physical backers have the option to add on a copy of this beautiful Tula Lotay cover variant for just $6. That's a backer-only discount. One of the many things I am shocked by is the fact that Tula, probably the most in-demand cover artist in comics right now, agreed to do this cover.

For those who don't know, I wrote a comic book. It's a horror-noir occult detective story reminiscent of 80s/90s Vertigo classics like HELLBLAZER & LUCIFER. It was fully funded on Kickstarter a few months ago and my artist, R.L. Black, just turned in final art. I'm so happy with how it turned out.

Steamer projects Adley Rutschman 6th among MLB catchers in 2026 at 3.3 WAR. That’s third in the AL behind Raleigh and Kirk and second in the division behind Kirk.

Feels irresponsible to do this but I can't help myself: Heyman claims there's "at least some interest" in Alonso from the Orioles.

Love when this happens

On the whole I'm OK with Ranger Suarez at the ~5/125 he's being projected for. I'm concerned about his second half, though. His already low velocity was down, dipping below 90 for two months. He recovered a bit in September but is this the continuation of a steep decline or a blip?

More thoughts from this MLBTR mailbag. The idea that someone like Devin Williams or Zac Gallen might look for the best 3 or 4 year deal they can get instead of the high-AAV opt-out path actually makes them a bit more appealing to me.

His bat speed was up more than 2 MPH, a fantastic sign. His swing and miss was up compared to recent years, which isn't ideal. But his hard hit% was a career high and his barrel rate was one of his best as well.
