The fact no one is just selling compute power for AI at scale as a commodity and it requires 500 horse trades, especially places who specialize in it want all that risk to be held in a bag by someone else instead of maximizing profits by keeping it internal, really tells you a lot.

I think the latter is actually a bigger deal for most people than the former. And encouraging them not to tell their parents. At this point I would rather leave a loaded handgun on the living room table than ChatGPT be loaded on a teens laptop.

Also, the vast majority of people who use ChatGPT do so secretly, because they dont want people to know they are doing their homework (or real work) with AI. There’s not going to be some grassroots movement of people behind AI.
