Cats will ignore you for hours, then collapse dramatically in your lap like you're their last hope. It’s a game. It’s a love story. And it’s the best kind of emotional chaos.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have revealed a synthetic glycosystem -a sugar-coated polymer nanoparticle- that can BLOCK SARS-CoV-2 from infecting human cells, REDUCING infection rates by NEARLY 99%. Acting as a decoy, the molecule BINDS to the spike protein, PREVENTING it from attaching to real cells.

"Peptides" have gone nuts in our pseudoscience, "influencer", and "wellness" fueled media-sphere. Not only are the vast majority of these ineffective for their claimed indications, they are outright dangerous.

As a journalist and emerging public historian, I spent much of the past week reading through transcripts of oral histories made and collected by residents of Kerr County, Texas – where flash floods killed more than 100 people this month.

There’s one recording that stood out to me. 🧵

The College Park site, known as Archives II, is the larger DC-area facility, and it holds millions of government records, including film, photographs, maps, sound recordings. (And, ironically perhaps, the JFK Assassination records.)

More importantly, these records belong to the public.

Younger people will be shocked to hear this, but way back when I grew up, anytime you saw a movie where some government official stopped someone on the street and demanded to see their identification papers, that was supposed to let you know they were the *bad* guys.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

On Sunday, my friend, Jonathan Joss was murdered and it took me a minute to find the words...

Like so many of our lives, Jonathan's existed at the powerful intersections of Indigeneity, queerness, visibility, and vulnerability. He was fierce, funny, flawed, and real in every way that mattered.
