The Trump admin is seeking to deeply slash budgets for federal health programs, a roughly 1/3 cut in spending by the Dept of HHS ($121 billion➡️$80 billion.)

📌 The proposal would ⬇️the NIH budget ~40%: $47 billion➡️$27 billion. It would consolidate NIH’s 27 institutes to eight.

But recent research suggests that the U.S. is regressing in efforts to detect the disease early, when it is most curable.
Cancer caused by HPV is increasing in some women in the U.S.
The percentage of women screened for cervical cancer fell, especially in rural areas, as rates of the disease have been edging up among women in their 30s and 40s.
