Wake Up Dead Man is coming to @pickfordfilmcenter.bsky.social at our brand new second location on Grand Ave. Such a fun movie to see with a crowd — had a blast when I saw it with a full house at TIFF

Hey Seattle, the time is now here for you to see HAPPYEND as it opens today @nwfilmforum.bsky.social. It's a great fiction feature debut from Neo Sora that any discussion of 2025 in film would be remiss not to include. Go see it then read my review or read my review then see it. Just see it ASAP 📽️
HAPPYEND: Don't sleep on Neo Sora’s fiction feature debut as it's a poetic portrait of youth in crisis. The kids are more than alright – though their world is not in this quietly incisive snapshot of a film that really snuck up on me 📽️

Proud of the program I curated this year with my co-programmers, Jane Julian and Lesley Schroeder, for the @pickfordfilmcenter.bsky.social’s Doctober Film Festival and so
pleased to see this coverage from Cascadia Daily News, highlighting some terrific docs:

A great-movie avalanche lately continues for me with new films by Joachim Trier and Lynne Ramsay. (The four main performances in the former are just astoundingly good.) And @kphipps3000.bsky.social gets a good performance, too, in only a so-so biopic. thereveal.film/in-review-se...
In Review: ‘Sentimental Value,’ ‘Die My Love,’ ‘Christy’
Our second batch of new-release reviews includes a complex family drama, Jennifer Lawrence as a woman on the edge, and Sydney Sweeney suiting up for a boxing biopic.

Carol's not getting EBT this month. Lots of people in need but the thing is, she's, you know, a mate. And if you saw SKINAMARINK it can somehow be traced back to her Lboxd post. So if you can give, give, and if you can give more, give more.

Today at The Reveal, I rank the nine films of Kelly Reichardt, which range from very very good to outstanding, because she's just that consistent. The list is really just an excuse to take stock of a brilliant career that almost wasn't. thereveal.film/worst-to-bes...

Along with directing an episode of TWIN PEAKS, Diane Keaton also directed four movies (one doc, three features).

I’ve only seen two: HANGING UP and WILDFLOWER. They’re both flawed but interesting and make me wish she’s directed more films. I gotta track down the other two.

New IJ lawsuit filed today challenging ICE raids of construction sites, wherein ICE detains American citizens in AL, rejects their proof of citizenship, and holds them without PC.

Worth a read, and more evidence of the wide gulf b/w what SCOTUS says is happening and what is actually happening.

2025 Democratic politics is that scene in every 70s movie where somebody gets their car stolen and runs down the street shaking their fist in the air yelling, "Hey, that's my car!!!"
Well, he won't. Now what?
