One reason Trump says & does whatever he wants is because every societal institution, including the media, has completely normalized & internalized the idea that the laws, the Constitution, & the international treaties we have signed & ratified simply don’t apply to this one guy. It’s maddening.

Municipal elections are coming up in 2026 and I hope there will be broad and highly visible accounting of Councilors who have held up common sense housing solutions in every ward in the City of Toronto. How these projects are not fast tracked for approval-at scale- is beyond me. Crisis means action.

Seems like a really good time, if this holds, to invite leading researchers to keep working here in Canada.
From what I hear from multiple people in the space, the latest NIH indirect costs for medical research grants will basically mean the end most academic medical centers.
