RIP Evelyn Fox Keller. I was actually just teaching my doc students about her 48 hours ago.
Evelyn Fox Keller, a theoretical physicist, a mathematical biologist and, beginning in the late 1970s, a feminist theorist who explored the way gender pervades and distorts scientific inquiry, has died. She was 87.
Evelyn Fox Keller, Who Turned a Feminist Lens on Science, Dies at 87
Trained as a physicist and biologist, she argued that science had become gendered, with a narrow masculine framework that distorted inquiry.

Actually, emotion and cognition may not be so separate after all.

There are phenotypic correlations and a shared genetic component. Anatomically, the key zone of convergence seems to be the superior frontal cortex.

I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night with a rush of excitement triggered by a “random” idea. It was that Bluesky should adopt a cartoon sheep as its mascot, and re-name posts as “bleats” and the act of posting as “bleating,” or “re-bleats” and “re-bleating,” such as the case may be.
