One of my favorite rainforest finds (and favorite photography subject), a juvenile Yellow-headed Calico Snake (Oxyrhopus formosus). The whitish nape fades to almost black as the snake reaches maturity. NE Peru. #herps #snakes #NaturePhotography 🌿

Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

Almost ten years old now (2016), here's an azhdarchid (since named Cryodrakon) being scavenged by another azhdarchid, the dromaeosaur Saurornitholestes, and some small birds. This scene is based on real fossil data showing that Saurornitholestes consumed pterosaur remains. #paleoart #sciart
