Good morning #Bookvember A little background on yesterday and today's prompts, if you are interested. The idea of books as windows and mirrors was originally coined Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop and describes how literature helps children see themselves and others through books.
A cartoon with 12 panels showing a little girl and a large red book in each panel. The top of the cartoon says books are... Then each panel lists something books are with an illustration to match. The comic depicts books as mirrors, windows, sliding glass doors, stepping stones, overcoats, anchors, springboards, escape hatches, quiet corners, warm blankets, flying carpets, and beacons to new readers. The artist is Grant Snider and he gives credit to Rudine Sims Bishop who developed the theory of books as windows and mirrors. The colors are minimal, sticking with blue, red, brown, green and white.
