my favorite idiotic fact is that the guy from maroon five hates all of their hits. like 100% of them. he said when they cut a track and he fucking loathed it he knew it was destined for greatness and he was going to have to play it every week at least a year
one probably winds up with a very different relationship to “Wandering Star” upon hearing it for the 37th time vs upon performing it live for the 3,981st time

It turns out that the answer to the question “have things been getting better or getting worse?” is usually “yes.”
Which raises a further question: can progress and decline happen at the same time? Can, in other words, the wheat and the weeds grow up together or no?

There is a meaning to the fact that Dreher cites here and it's this: religious pluralism is great! Qualified people can become leaders in our society without having to abandon or dissemble about their religious faith! Score one for pluralistic liberalism over laïcité or ethno-religious nationalism!

Recently one of my former students emailed me the recording of a homily he preached at his parish, which was a retooling of a homily he did for a class with me 9 years ago (!). It was a delight to hear!
One of my favorite parts of my job is teaching the students in formation for the permanent diaconate, which I get to do almost every semester.
