Watched WAKEFIELD on prime yesterday, and although it ended up being a series of missed possibilities, there was more than enough in there to surprise the viewer and keep you (me) engaged throughout. I want to remake this immediately. Also with Tracey Walter as the hissing homeless man. #filmsky

Peggy Lou just played Lester Bowie's take on "I Only Have Eyes For You" on WWOZ and it sounded so wonderful I need to listen to it with attention... so this is a post-it note for myself. The Flamingos doo-wop version is one of the most hauntingly beautiful tunes ever performed.

Peggy Lou just played Lester Bowie's take on "I Only Have Eyes For You" on WWOZ and it sounded so wonderful I need to listen to it with attention... so this is a post-it note for myself. The Flamingos doo-wop version is one of the most hauntingly beautiful tunes ever performed.
Saw Linklater's BLUE MOON. It's like a terrific later Woody Allen film, but without Woody and all that comes with that. Deceptively simple, cloaking its layers in wit, charm, desire and drama. Hawke's hair reminds me of Fred Ward as Henry Miller, though. Recommend. #filmsky

Read Abel Ferrara’s memoir SCENE. Raw, systematically chaotic, redemptive, not for the squeamish. Like his films. Loved his early work, lost touch post New Rose Hotel. SCENE fills some gaps, vividly. I crossed his path briefly in Cannes '92, that era particularly resonated. Heavy, well-written.
