Not sure if either one of both is good...
Tom Friedman on point here, though he understated the case. Either Trump is the worse negotiator in all the universes of truth and fiction, or he is beginning an alliance with Russia with a joint attempt to subjugate Ukraine (and then much else).

From DC earlier this week, met a single couragous soul who was visibly demonstrating outside of the White House. For the sake of Ukraine. Waiting to see more of the U.S that stands up for that which is, and just a few weeks ago even in the U.S was, the right thing 🇺🇦🇪🇺

✅️ Agree with Macrons argument that the future of 🇪🇺 (not only EU) has to be decided there and not in 🇺🇲 or 🇷🇺 (normally a no brainer)

❓️ But have to speak about the "final word"... :-)
Macron tonight:
- We are entering a new era
- Our security is menaced
- The Russian menace is here; Russian aggressiveness knows no borders
- Who can think today's Russia will stop at Ukraine's borders?
- We may need to deploy European troops in Ukraine, once peace is signed

Time for the #Greens (and partly @spdde.bsky.social) to wake up and join the course of political responsibility for our state. Demands for climate protection and social issues are important but not a priority right now. Time to acknowledge that!

What a "surprise"! :-)

The new self-enthroned - sorry - elected, president of 🇷🇺s proxy wants to be part of the big feast. Another result of Trump's thoughtful policy...

Very insightful thread to the current discussion. Brings a bit more substance to the partly emotional debate.
The suspension of U.S. assistance for Ukraine is a very unfortunate and significant development, but it may not have immediate impact. Ukraine is far less dependent on the U.S. for day to day battlefield needs in 2025, than it was in earlier periods of the war. 1/

Still struggle + a lot of repressions but political sentiment is changing towards democratic forces.still more support and pressure from 🇪🇺 and the west is needed. 🇬🇪💪

Not a fan of cynicism, but to read that JD Vance and his family were disturbed by protests at their weekend house, makes me feel a bit better. Not about his struggle but the fact that there are still some right thinking minds in the US. #JDVance #Trump

Lavrov:

“The peacekeepers' plan for Ukraine is continuing to incite the Kyiv regime to wage war against us.”

Lavrov openly states that he sees peacekeeping as an act of war. A completely upside down vision of the world. Does this sound like Russia wants peace?
