I mean yeah it’s an authoritarian takeover but can we take some comfort in the fact that the people doing it are INSANELY stupid?

60 minutes CECOT segment. Recorded through my browser. HD quality. Not phone. Spread it around. If you're press, it's yours. Go nuts.

It's streaming on a Canadian website, but there is no telling for how long.

once more, isis doesn’t act according to the whims of anti-genocide protestors, and responding to this attack by treating expressions of solidarity with palestinians as anti-jewish hate crimes effectively criminalizes palestinian existence
Australia is not a serious country.

it's fun, right? israel gets to provide material support to an isis affiliate fighting hamas, and then when isis attacks a bunch of jews, israel gets to blame people who oppose israel massacring palestinians.

The shooters didn’t have Palestinian flags in their car, they had IS flags in there. No one’s reported seeing them at pro-Palestine marches, or using this phrase at all.

It makes zero sense for their actions to have legal bearing on Palestinians using a phrase about “shaking off” their oppressors

Giving Jillian Segal even more influence over Australian policy when she still hasn't denounced far-right group "Advance" (which she bankrolls) is extremely poor governing.

Australia deserves far better.
It's over five months since Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal made headlines for being one of the biggest funders of highly divisive, far-right political lobby group "Advance".

She has at all times refused to denounce Advance, its bigotry and racist hate.

every mainstream outlet has completely buried the lede on 7 men whose cars were rammed by NSW Police in Liverpool. They are all released without charge into the community. Not even ASIO, with its extensive powers to detain, applied to keep them incarcerated.

This is revolting, racist nonsense and it’s being mainlined everywhere right now. No criticism of Israel is allowed, ever. They can starve as many babies to death as they like, they can mass murder hundreds of thousands and it's fine because they're Jewish.

If you criticize the deaths of children burned alive, you are labeled an anti-Semite. These concepts must change, and there should be only one law: inhumanity.

A few months into starting school my Aboriginal/Arab son started coming home from school very quiet and wouldn’t really talk about it.

Eventually he expressed that he ‘didn’t want to be brown anymore’. That’s how we found out about the bullying.

Surely addressing all bigotry would be preferable?
Oh yes, kindergartens, those incubators of hate.

Imagine if the same approach was considered to address all forms of bigotry, or violence against women, or any of the issues that are genuinely rampant among the population.

anti-genocide is NOT anti-semitism

but just watch the AU govt fall for it hook line and sinker

protests will be very selectively illegal

only very specific hate preachers will be sanctioned

calling for continued genocide in gaza will be endorsed

The idea that changing a definition to include criticism of Israel as being anti-Semitic and cracking down even further on anti-genocide protests would have in any way made anyone safer is madness. That the Coalition have so comprehensively jumped to blame here is insanity. Who is this speaking to?

Australia's journalist class has basically collectively and immediately decided last weekend's terror attacks were the direct result of anti-genocide protests and the entire political response is now going to be guided towards actions that won't prevent another terror attack

Ah yes, that's where a recently unemployed 24-year-old bricklayer, who spent years hanging around Australia's pro-IS network, and his 50-year-old migrant father were radicalised: university anti-genocide protests 🙄

Be fucking serious for a moment.
