I've been thinkingabout why people seem to be so adamant in believing Labour haven't raised taxes since they got into power.

It's because for you and me, we don't feel it. We aren't affected.

Because the tax rises are almost exclusively on the richest in society.

The opposite is the case. In 1978/79, top 1% paid 11% of all income tax. In 2024/25, the top 1% will pay about 29% of all income tax. The trend is extraordinary:

Just do it?
The UK doesn't need to raise Income Tax because people who pay Income Tax already pay a lot of tax.

But among the richest 1% more than 80% of their money isn't taxed by Income Tax.

Tax that at 47% too, and you get £250bn a year.

That's what needs to be done.
