An important dynamic to understand is that they trust Cuomo to enact their agenda precisely BECAUSE he is compromised by scandal. He can't attempt to switch his coalition of support back to liberals or progressives, he's stuck with the corrupt Powers That Be bsky.app/profile/mike...
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Cuomo is the answer to the question, "How do we stop progressives from running NYC." That they must get behind a moral degenerate like Cuomo is a statement about how shallow the talent pool is for conservative Dems.
The powers that be are very invested in Cuomo winning the NYC mayorship (one of the 10 most powerful executive roles in the USA) because, like Adams before him, he represents the best chance to let conservatives and business interests run a city mostly full of liberal voters.

Yes the media and crypto-money campaign for Yang was a nice preview of efforts we'd see much more of in 22 and 24. Just bad luck for them that Yang turned out to be a total incompetent instead of merely corrupt bsky.app/profile/esch...

I am one of those clueless liberals. I made a comment somewhat in support of him yesterday on a post and immediately got dog piled to hell on here. First time on Bluesky. Won’t make that mistake again. In my defense though I’m not an expert on him, don’t live in NY, and just knew him from TV.

Andrew Cuomo was known as a pretty mainstream liberal while AG, and didn't give many hints that he would govern as a conservative and do things like help the GOP keep the NY Senate via gerrymandering. Also he happens to be the son of a very famous liberal politician! bsky.app/profile/john...

This was shameful propaganda - Cuomo killed thousands of New Yorkers by negligently ordering infected people returned to nursing homes, even as he was using taxpayer money to pay for ghostwriting the book he was planning to sell about his "heroism" bsky.app/profile/1sil...
IDK much about Cuomo and his scandals. I do know that in the early days of the pandemic, he was on TV every day giving updates in real time. He was doing what the president should have been doing. He kept me anchored and gave me hope. I will always be grateful for his leadership in those dark days.

I am increasingly a single issue voter, and that single issue is- when my neighbors are abducted off the street will you work to free them? Seeing @mayorwu.boston.gov rally with union leaders to call for Rumeysa Ozturk's release really drove home for me what a dire situation we're in in New York.
