Over 1,000 young girls were raped, sexually abused, & victimized by very powerful men. Over many years. Those young girls are the ONLY victims in this horrible story.

As of this morning, it is imperative that the Democratic caucus in the senate remove Schumer as Minority Leader, Durbin as minority whip and Cortez Masto as Vice Chair of Outreach.

Replace them today with Van Hollen, Murphy and Merkley. Or anyone else who actually knows how to lead and discipline.

My ongoing advice to every candidate in my new political party: Be yourself. Ignore the consultants & just fucking be authentic. When asked a question, just fucking answer it. Say what u believe. Don’t worry if the answer doesn’t poll well. Be who u are. Say what u believe. It’s really fucking easy.

American history is short.
At the age of 80, Helen Dortch Longstreet--wife of former Confederate general and postwar Republican James Longstreet--worked in a Georgia factory helping to make B-29 bombers during WWII.

And to vote against Harris. We are a bored, decadent nation, and we wanted a show, not a minority woman with actual plans for governing. The voters got bored with the show that replaced White House Apprentice, so they brought it back.
Do you think inflation was more of an excuse voters used to cover their actual reasons to vote for Trump?

Noted lib, John Yoo.

This story continues to blow my mind. Grooming, something, something. WTF. This story is much bigger than the Karen Read foolishness.
Secret disciplinary proceedings for a former Stoughton police deputy chief accused of sexual misconduct involving Sandra Birchmore have revealed new details about the last day of her life and unearthed a department controversy that had previously stayed out of public view.
Ex-Stoughton police supervisor contacted Sandra Birchmore on the day she died - The Boston Globe
The former Stoughton deputy police chief retired from the force in 2022 during an internal investigation over his interactions with Birchmore.

The great Joe Strummer would have turned 73 today.

Punk rock, he once said, “ain’t the boots or the hair dye. .. Punk rock means exemplary manners to your fellow human being. .. ‘Always be a punk rocker’ is something everyone can do.”

Heritage indeed
I want a presidential candidate who promises to construct Union memorials and statues all over the country.

And yeah, North and South. Blanket Virginia with statues of Thomas, who actually chose the right side.

Hell, put one of Sherman in the middle of Peachtree Park.

it bears constant repetition. the conservative claim that crime is rampant in cities like dc, ny, la, etc is best translated as "i saw a black person."

its the same mindset we saw embodied in white flight in the 60s and 70s. scared ass white people see one black person, and think "crime."

PIMCO, on $NVDA $AMD:

“.. It is not clear whether the government can enter into such a revenue-sharing agreement on U.S. exports, since Article 1, Section 9, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution prohibits the government from ‘laying taxes and duties on articles exported from any state.’”

Slumlord Super Pac? Sounds great, now Mamdani is even gonna carry Staten Island.
New York City real estate groups are forming super PACs to try to defeat Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for mayor. “Our goal is anybody but Mamdani,” the chief executive of Infinite Global Real Estate Partners wrote in an email obtained by The New York Times.
‘Anybody but Mamdani’: 5 Groups Emerge to Raise Millions in Attack Funds
Real estate titans and financiers are forming super PACs to try to defeat Zohran Mamdani. Some organizers say that they won’t succeed unless Mayor Eric Adams or former Gov. Andrew Cuomo drops out.

NYT: “the Black woman SCOTUS justice is uppity”
The claim that her opinions have tested “her colleagues’ patience” strikes me as a form of what I have called “elite victimization.” The Court’s majority has made a series of radically extremist decisions—taking away a Constitutional right, offering Trump seemingly unlimited immunity etc.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I grew up in rural South Carolina with a single mom who worked multiple jobs. At times, we relied on Medicaid and SNAP—like so many others. My heart breaks for those now wondering if that help will still be there.

Imagine having all that power and choosing to make people’s lives worse.

Shameful.

Some people are into politics because they care about how policy impacts people. They like winning elections, and build coalitions to do so.

Other people are into politics as aesthetics, because their stances make them feel edgy and superior. They like losing and complaining, and shun coalitions.
There’s a weird thing on this website and lots of left-wing subcultures, where people love to throw around “liberal” as an insult, but from what I can tell liberals voted overwhelmingly against Cuomo and are rallying behind Zohran now.

every day is dumber and more dangerous than the day before. I'm not sure he knows anything about history he hasn't seen in a John Wayne movie. Much less the complexity of the National Security Act.
Trump on Pete Hegseth: "Secretary of War. It used to be called secretary of war. Maybe for a couple weeks we'll call it that, because we feel like warriors. It used to be called secretary of war ... then we became politically correct ... maybe we'll have to start thinking about changing it."

Again, I think this will increase Mike Lee’s popularity, not decrease it. Trumpists want a swaggering, bullying douche.
The editorial board of a publication in Sen. Mike Lee's home state of Utah called on him to apologize for his posts about the Minnesota shootings, writing that they “were unacceptable for anyone, let alone from a member of the Senate.”
Deseret News condemns Lee’s posts about Minnesota shooting
The editorial board of the Utah-based publication said the Utah senator cast a “poor light”’ on the Beehive State.
