Not as strong as October, but I've caught up for the year!

Desperately trying to catch up on my reading goal. So October was a big month to make up for my lazy reading habits the past couple months.

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.

Hi Pete, the majority of early Church Fathers disagree with you. Do you know more about God and His Son than they do?
Hegseth: "As history teaches us, the only people who actually deserve peace and those who are willing to wage war to defend it. That's why pacifism is so naive and dangerous."

Most interesting part of the speech—a familiar MAGA tirade—was the audience reaction. Didn’t hear a single person applaud. Generals and admirals sat silently during this political lecture from a former National Guard captain. The right reaction.
Hegseth: "A few months ago I was at the White House when President Trump announced his liberation day for America's trade policy. It was a landmark day. Well, today is another liberation day. The liberation of America's warriors ... you kill people and break things for a living."

This is so purely incoherent on both sides of the conversation. It's not "allies" who say hate speech is free speech, it's decades of First Amendment rulings! And then Trump is just on another planet as usual
JON KARL: What do you make of Pam Bondi saying she's gonna go after hate speech? A lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech

TRUMP: We'll probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly. You have a lot of hate in your hate. Maybe they'll have to go after you.

One of the worst elements of modern political discourse is that we tend to learn about our opponents entirely through the words and actions we find offensive.

Post by post, our hearts harden until some people reach a point where they will celebrate the deaths of people they've grown to despise.

I always wonder why atheists respond to Christian apologists. Do you think it's going to be a lightbulb moment? Or is it the desire to be proven right? Or something else? Regardless. The scholarly consensus is that there was a man named Jesus of Nazareth and he was crucified.
