I have the type of Autism that, when I read an academic article about the use of whalebone in 18th/early 19th century stays, I go looking to see if there's legal sources to get baleen because I HAVE to know the texture and density. I crave that knowledge.

It occurs to me that the argument bots we’re seeing on Bluesky are possibly a proof of concept for Meta and/or other platforms’ plans to populate apps with AI to increase engagement. If people spend more time in-app to argue with bots, they view more ads on ad-supported platforms.

My autistic self feels this on a deep level. History blogs can only get you so far. I quickly back out of articles that don't list sources and operate on "dude, trust me" vibes.
Maybe because I'm overly educated and wrote a lot of papers at uni or it's the librarian in me, but, if you're writing facts, you NEED sources. There is no if, and, or buts. The trend I'm noticing as I continue my research is what comes up is lots of author blogs with "facts" but no sources.
