I acquired a mechanical keyboard from Amazon Vine. It is a smaller one, so certain functions have to be accessed via Fn+ combos. One such function is Calculator, which the documentation hilariously refers to as "The Reckoner". Another one starts Media Player and is labeled "MUSICIANS". 😂

Will Sergeant recently sat down with the team at BOSS for a deep dive into his iconic Roland and BOSS setup — and how he’s been shaping the sound of post-punk since 1978.
A proper treat for gear heads and Bunnymen fans alike. 🎸🔥.

My phone is alerting me that iOS 26.1 is available and I want a setting for “Never install this without me specifically asking for it.” I’ll take 18.7.2, thank you.

To me, nowadays at least, the presence of a dropdown list instead of freeform input is almost always a sure sign of programmer laziness or incompetence. The worst offender is a dropdown that lists all years between 1800 and 2025 as potential birthdays.

The idea: make a "did it get lossy" audio analyzer for sound files

I ended up with: well, a bit of a wild ass project.

Let's start with the end features...

Probably my favorite musician interview in a good long time. Flea is so well read, so touched by music. Talks of beauty, music as a river of love, channeling God, art, beauty... Knows so much about jazz and its language. A very beautiful hour with a music lifer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmA4...

I still think a lot about the fact that Gamergate did essentially win. Not that it made the culture significantly more misogynistic or anything, but it succeeded in making a lot of the people who played games eventually casually much more anti-intellectual and incurious.

Here is a demo after a facelift of "Losselot"

It detects if a file was once compressed lower than its current bitrate, be it an mp3, flac, etc

It's a double-click-it-to-run app on Mac OS, Windows & Linux

Pick a folder, get it analyzed

Here is a short demo. Thread has more details for the curious
