The facts don't speak for themselves.

I have never heard a fact speak myself.

If people don't speak the truth, loud and often, all that's heard are lies.

Time for the rest of the world to start requiring vaccine records to allow North Americans into their countries.
Canada has just lost measles elimination status. The U.S. will undoubtedly follow shortly.

Elimination means that there is no continuous spreading of measles within the country for a year or longer.

Canada and the U.S. have blown it, and it’s largely the fault of the anti-vaccination movement.
Canada loses measles elimination status after three decades, health agency says
Canada has lost its measles elimination status after nearly three decades due to its failure to curb a year-long outbreak, the country's public health agency said on Monday.

The laws, the norms, the duct tape. Everything that’s held the Republic together for 250 years. All shredded for this One Special Boy.
It's really incredible how the norm against the deployment of the military against Americans at home has completely degraded. What this man is describing is a flagrant violation of Posse Comitatus.
Rep. Pat Harrigan: "I have asked Josh Stein, our governor, to consider working with President Trump to allow the National Guard to come into Charlotte ... use the National Guard as a force multiplier and they can a lot of load off the Charlotte PD."

“The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner” — Randall Jarrell

From my mother’s sleep I fell into the State,
And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze.
Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life,
I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters.

‘A Ukrainian witch kicks the crap out of Russian soldiers’: the new wave of horror films taking on Putin’s army
‘A Ukrainian witch kicks the crap out of Russian soldiers’: the new wave of horror films taking on Putin’s army
Homegrown, female-driven scary movies in which witches and zombies lay waste to invading troops are proving popular in Ukraine. But why seek out horror on screen if you have so much of it in real life?

the entirety of the british press talked themselves into believing this woman is trans based almost entirely on JK Rowling's judgement of the athlete's appearance.
Nothing illustrates the arseholery of the IOC and the British Press more than the use of the image of a not-Trans woman to illustrate a story about trans women being banned (because there are no current trans women competing at this level)

A thing I wrote about Schumer when Mamdani won the primary and kind of thinking about it a lot the last two days
Worth reminding everyone that the current highest ranking Democrat in America openly admits he bases his decisions on what he thinks an imaginary person would want and today he and most of his allies are struggling to understand how somebody like Mamdani won by talking to voters who actually exist

Some context: Trump is referring to those who fight and die for their country in military service. Those he told John Kelly were “suckers” and “losers.”

If you're looking around thinking "if Trump & the Republicans cause enough suffering, there will be backlash & accountability," I would direct your attention to the UK. Hard to think of any country in history so clearly, demonstrably, theatrically fucked by a single party ... and yet.
The thing to understand about this is that this catastrophe in the UK has redounded to the political benefit of the very same people and political movement that pushed for it! Extremely perverse.
I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)
