I genuinely think one thing that trips up folks on the left is that they can't imagine not sharing certain core values. Lemme explain. Here's an intuition pump:

Say you're in negotiations with counterparty X. And there are two possible deals on the table ...

I realize this is only about the 87th worst thing about it but…One Big Beautiful Bill? Seriously? How can they get that out with a straight face?

Evil is bad enough. Becoming an authoritarian state with people this stupid in power is just embarassing.

It is so incredibly revealing that when a journalist challenges Trump directly (about those dumbass tattoos), his response is not, "no, I'm correct, you have bad information." The notion of accuracy -- correspondence with external reality -- doesn't come up at all. It's, "you're not being nice."

They should just take down the Statue of Liberty and replace it with a giant dude in an ICE jacket with gun pointing out and Lazarus’s poem can be replaced with a placard that just says “GTFO”

As MAGAphiles move from deportation film-making that would make Leni Riefenstahl proud to kidnapping foreign students who create a "rukus" by saying aloud or in print that they disagree w/ this administration & its enablers, know that citizens will be next.
Hence, this fatal "joke" about Nazis.

Holy shit. My congresswoman Laura Gillen, who I KNOCKED ON DOORS FOR, voted to censure Al Green. In this moment, she stood with Republicans and not decency and the rule of law.

I feel so betrayed. God damn it. I called the office & gave them an earful. She gets nothing from me again, ever.

You all realize the Canada/Greenland/Panama thing is a staple of fascism, right? Fascism requires not just enemies within, but enemies without, & America's traditional geopolitical foes are all authoritarians Trump admires. Yes, there's economic rapaciousness to it, but the militarism is the point.

It’s the first real return to office day for many people after the holidays and it’s cold and people have nice new coats and I have to get something off my chest.

Please…snip the thread that’s holding the vent together. Seriously, it’s driving me crazy.

UBI saves a ton of public money, but its lack of cruelty sends certain people into a rage, so it’s hard to put into practice.
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.
