In Scotland, free school meals are automatically provided to all children in Primary 1 to 5. This means that financial circumstances do not affect eligibility for these meals. Additional free school meal and school clothing grant benefits are available to families receiving certain benefits.

Bloody, bullying arrogance from the WH. Gordon Brown is right in his article in the Guardian today. The rest of the world needs to get together and agree an alternative to being beholden to the whims of a lunatic felon in the WH.

China's banning of the sale of Rare Earth Materials outside China, of which they produce 80% means that electronics now cannot be made outside of China.

So either Americans go back to the Stone Age, or Donald Trump is going to have to cave to China.

I don't often ask people to write to their MPs. But I think they might listen to you on this, as it's so jaw-droppingly awful, and they're almost certainly unaware of it. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

According to Police Scotland, suspected deaths in 2024 were 1,065, 132 fewer than in 2023, 34 of them under-25s — a fall of 37 per cent over the same period. If only we had this devolved , this could have happened decades ago. No thanks to Unionists

Should anyone need numbers: on a quick estimate, just Glasgow and Strathclyde together have a turnover of about £1bn p.a. Not quite up there with Glasgow City Council (~£3bn) or NHS GGC (~£4.5bn) but not far out of that league, even before you acvount for the local economic impact of >40K students.
Yes the view universities are some sort of nice cultural expense is completely ignorant of the central role they have in our economy and society. Glasgow being a prime example.

Govts will tell you inflation is at 2% but a pet food company has shrunk the package size you buy by 15% while increasing the price of it by 10%. So you are paying more for less.

December 2024 12x100g : £4.50
January 2025 12 x 85g : £5.00

But inflation is only at 2% right?
