Sure, you could use AI to summarize papers and explain them at a level anyone could understand... or you can turn the abstracts into music videos for no reason.

The tools are obviously not perfect yet, but the disparate elements (consistent characters, lip syncing, etc.) are evolving fast

This all confirms very low marginal environmental impacts at the individual level (equivalent to watching streaming video at something like 9-10 seconds of Netflix per prompt at even the higher Mistral numbers), but, of course, this can add up at the societal level for large aggregate impacts.

Cyberpunk 2077 is great because it understands that cyberpunk, the genre, is at its best peering into the central human mysteries, like what if Osama bin Laden had been Joe Strummer?

Of the three models showing their "thinking," Gemini may actually be the most interesting. Less personal and cute than DeepSeek r1, not obscured like the OpenAI models, and actually shows the pathways it took to solve the problem more clearly, making it easier to diagnose issues.

I asked Claude “Make an interactive artifact that will illustrate to me why I should not start Civ VII right now.”

This is what it came up with on its own.

Just remember that Deep research (OpenAI), Deep Research (Google Gemini) and DeepSeek (from DeepSeek) are unrelated.

Also o3-mini-high is a great model up there with o1-pro and definitely better than 4o. (I really want to stop tweeting about OpenAI's naming, but they force me)

@cnn.com: Sources say they wanted access to security systems and personnel files and to access classified information.

Today, the USAID Director of Security and his deputy were put on leave.

SCOTUS upholding the TikTok ban was not surprising. SCOTUS unanimously upholding the TikTok ban is a sign that the highest court in our country is woefully out of touch with technology. And that’s what the final opinion basically said. “We don’t have time for this so we trust congress.”

I remember reading history books and being dumbfounded that people let their societies slide into fascism. Watching it happen in real time has contextualized how complacency breeds subservience.

How are we feeling about keeping “life” as something that describes a specific sort of chemical system and maybe needing a new word to talk about these other things we’re gonna start making?
