It’s been two years since the last official Hellfire Gala, but the minds of X-fans are still hot with inspiration! The latest season of the hit video game Marvel Rivals has been a love letter to the First Krakoan Age. Emma Frost, with a brand-new costume, haircut and thunder thighs, invited us all to the Hellfire Gala. The game developers wrote a beautiful letter about how much Krakoa and the Hellfire Gala inspired them, and how they wanted to do justice to such an amazing part of comics history.

Caught up on Exceptional X-men. I still love the book, especially when it focuses on interpersonal dynamics, but Sinister did not work for me. He was used too much in the last era, often at an enormous scale. Exceptional Sinister was both more of the same and somehow not enough.

In a cultural moment that will be remembered for its regression, The Ultimates really stands out for what could be different and better. I’m all in, ride or die for it and in awe of its existence.

It was divas’ week in comics with Phoenix, Storm, and Uncanny (I’m sure Gail has cosmic powers too, right?). Phoenix ended its arc nicely but I have to admit that I wasn’t really invested in the Dark Gods. I think saving Adani’s soul should have been depicted as more challenging.
