well i have been here since nearly the beginning and have done a bunch of atproto development work, and also have edited my own bluesky posts before (you can do it and bluesky will track it fine, just requires manually updating the record in a specific way). so

edit button barrier is almost entirely user experience challenges. it's very doable technically.

amazing

yeah go look at the connected places llms and slop post! the semble cosmik.collection records are entirely format-agnostic rendering using a bit of jacquard magic.
December 29, 2025 at 2:42 AM
the specific treatment of longform embeds it does wouldnt work for a bluesky client, but the overall pattern would.
December 29, 2025 at 2:41 AM
yeah I can turn any record format into reasonable html, with some special handling for known types and fairly nice looking fallback. and you can style the semantic classes however you like, the specific weaver css is separate. it's fairly tightly integrated rn but could easily be made less so.

sure no problem. lemme check gh. btw the new version is getting almost usable. was testing the file editing tool earlier today.

ah yeah. this is literally why i'm writing a webapp in rust. means the whole codebase pretty much is the one language. but it's gotta have at least good enough support on the platform in question
December 28, 2025 at 9:13 PM
like the challenge is to find a thing that's faster than micropython/circuitpython but with the same or nearly the same approachability.

rust gets you all the niceties of a modern language very efficiently, but it is more mentally demanding than other languages for most people.
December 28, 2025 at 8:42 PM
no worries. honestly swift is cool, but yeah a viable embedded thing it is not right now (and IMO it's not a great fit for microcontrollers, and neither is, say, Go).

rust is itself debatable depending on exactly what you're doing and what your timelines/constraints are.

so the wild thing is the genderbread person was from supposedly progressive, pro-trans people! like it was supposed to be supportive. it just was also incredibly transphobic. all while a lot of anti-trans people yelled about it like it was representative of trans people's beliefs re gender and sex.
December 28, 2025 at 6:02 PM
cool. lots of people around here familiar with embedded rust if you run into problems and put out the call.
December 28, 2025 at 4:22 PM
yeah exactly. like if someone wants to find out its not hard, but I definitely like it not being everyone's immediate first thing they know about me irl.
