technology that makes people more productive is inherently used to perpetuate capitalism, that’s why I make videogames, technology that makes people less productive

Throughout my career, I'd find systems nobody was maintaining or projects without leadership and realize "I need to step up and take responsibility for this or we'll lose it".

Building coalitions and teams from people who also cared and wanted to support the objectives have been the best moments.

What a clever iteration on the powerwash genre, turning it into cleaning up an ominous contaminated sci-fi outpost.
You left. Now they're dead.

Immersive sim narrative first person cleaner AMBROSIA SKY is coming out NEXT WEEK!

Well I learned a valuable lesson today because in the hours since I posted "looking for an artist", I've been bombarded with bot spam offering to "make art for my comic" 😂
Looking for an artist to create a fractal cosmic being for a game vertical slice: you play chess +100 extra rules against these beings.

Original inspiration was "biblically accurate angels" with the multitude of eyes and wings, but the concept turned kaleidoscopic.

Know anybody with this style?

I spent recent months doing another shader and color overhaul while replacing Black Ice's HUD with something a little more cyberpunk.

"Return of the Obra Dinn" is seven years old this week.

For this not-particularly-special anniversary, here's a re-cammed and narrated timelapse of (nearly) all character creation, object modeling, scene posing, and general 3D work for Obra Dinn from 2015 to 2018:

I did this in Black Ice and they're also all lava waterfalls 🔥
the trick is to put treasure behind *one* waterfall, then the player will never stop looking
WHEN THERE’S TREASURE BEHIND THE WATERFALL: Oh wow. Yes, very clever! Waterfall treasure! No one’s ever done that before. Lazy jackass

WHEN THERE’S NO TREASURE BEHIND THE WATERFALL: Wow. Too stuck-up to put treasure there huh? Too much of a fucking ICONOCLAST for that? Piece of shit. FUCK you

How over- and underrepresented are different causes of death in the media?

Another way to visualize this data is to measure how over- or underrepresented each cause is.

To do this, we calculate the ratio between a cause’s share of deaths and its share of news articles.

I think what's impressive about TRON is that, visually, it's still so much more interesting than any of it's sequels. It's crazy that they tried update this digital world by making it as 'realistically rendered' as possible. It's a complete misunderstanding of the original's charm.

If you have a finished or mostly finished game, you can still submit to the Indie Games Festival competition by October 10 (11:59 PST) submit.igf.com

This can be a great way to get visibility from developers and journalists across the industry, especially if you're submitting a student game!
