The notion abusers need to resort to conspiracies and subterfuge is more comforting than the truth that many people will readily look the other way when confronted with sexual violence if doing otherwise would even slightly inconvenience them
Pizzagate: If you replace the word “hot dog” with “little boy” and “pizza party” with “child sex orgy,” you will see the lengths these elites go to cover up their crimes.

Real elite emails: Send me nude pictures of those 8th graders we abused last weekend post-haste! I am the Ambassador to Turkey.

I spent 6 months working on a thing and it wasn't until I started fleshing out the written proposal that it actually made sense. It's always like this. The ideas-brewing-fun stage is indispensable. The writing-it-all-down slog is crucial.
AI is killing the college essay as more professors ditch robot-written papers for in-class exams. So now even fewer students are being taught to write well (an energy intensive task!).

Students lose out, bc good writing = good thinking: a training of the brain towards structure, style & substance.

whereas you know - I still vividly remember once spending something like seven straight hours rewriting the full HTML of my blog from scratch, just because I fancied a change - our experiences of the internet have been so different that we're essentially different species now

When I fell in love with the web, way back when, it was about the long form of expression. Sprawling blog posts. Novel-length fanfiction. Someone, somewhere, would care enough to scroll all the way down.

Then we brutally went down to 140 characters.

*Differences in potential ratings account for half of the gender promotion gap
*Women’s lower potential ratings do not reflect future performance: women subsequently outperform male colleagues

We're a long way from equal treatment for all dangling bits of human anatomy.
Had a breast exam today. After being contorted & smushed into a glass shield, then gracelessly crushed w/ a vice, the tech asked if I was okay. I said my neck was stiff. She replied, “And you’re only 50. I put 80-year olds in this thing.” My one thought: No way this device was designed by women.

Between the BBC and the Dems, it must be International Own Goal Day.
Just absolutely classic BBC. You've just broadcast the most successful programme of the year, uniting Gen Z kids online and Boomers on broadcast in a return to appointment television. And instead of celebrating, your DG reigns due to a made-up right-wing scandal.

I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life
