Horror nerd. Burnt out film school grad. I was born in a house with the television always on. Let's talk movies.

they/them
I've spent more time than is necessary thinking about how unfortunate it is that Cher and Meatloaf only did one song together.

I could watch this movie in June, honestly, it's that perfect. Black Christmas (1974) is one of my favorite slashers. While it's got it's schocky moments, it's also got a storyline about a woman's right to her own body that I think still resonates.

We need answers—now. Where is our sister Hilary Rivers? ICE took her the morning after Pride with no warning, no due process, and no communication. This is not justice—this is kidnapping. We demand transparency, accountability, and her immediate release.

Next up in the horror section is The Blair Witch Project (1999)! This is THE found footage movie. Classmates go out into the woods with cameras and all hell breaks loose. I need the extended version.

Do yourself a favor and watch a weird 90s anime and then read the letterboxd reviews.

Next up on the movies I've collected over the years is American Mary (2012). I'm begging you to pls look at the trigger warnings before watching it, but this movie is amazing. You can tell when a movie like this is made by women because of the care that is taken, and the Soska sisters are masters.

I haven't been watching a ton of movies this year. Usually by the middle of the year, I'm at least at 100 new-to-me movies. I haven't even broken sixty yet this year. Because of this, I'm going to go through all of my already watched movies on here and talk about why I adore them.

Tyrants view educated citizens as their greatest enemy.

Slaveholders stopped the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books. Dictators censor media.

That’s why Trump is attacking education, science, and the arts – to prevent us from learning.

I love finding clips from random John Waters interviews because if something vaguely "perverse" gets in the news reporters are like "You know what? I know exactly who to call."

Very soon we will need active networks of MUTUAL AID & PROTECTION.

The targeting of civilians will only increase exponentially.

MASSES will be impoverished.

People will need money, food, shelter & safe passage.

So I'm writing something about why horror is important to queer people and why, as a community, we go so hard for this genre, and it's so much fun to read about how we all got to love the same genre through different means.
