It should break every Christian’s heart that our faith was used as a political tool to bring our country to where it is today.

Too much worrying about the very unlikely prospect that a Sunday church service will be interrupted by protesters …

Or that “Christianity is not being respected” …

And not enough concern about the possibility that Jesus will one day say “Depart From Me! I Never Knew You!”
One of the distinguishing characteristics of **actual** Christians is having love and concern for other human beings.

People who call themselves Christians but who do not care about other humans would be wise to do some serious introspection.

If voices are not heard or are ignored, they often fall silent, either under duress or due to hopelessness. The silence of leadership and the denial of abuse further silences victims, damages faith, & destroys hope. The same corruption plaguing our secular systems is within us.

The silence about wrongdoing in our religious institutions can be rationalized and affirmed as a desire to protect the name of God. Such harmful rhetoric from leadership fosters interior silence in the victims and in the followers.

My newsletter tomorrow is called: “Why Do The Wicked Prosper?”

In it, I invite us to ponder a few places in the Bible where this question is asked towards God in an effort to process together how we might be asking those same questions today.

Goodnight all. History is not kind to its brutal autocrats. Nero was the most powerful man on earth, while St. Paul was an obscure itinerant preacher of the Good News of God's vast love. Today people name their sons Paul, and their dogs Nero. The Big Lie is a lie. The Lord bless you and keep you!

Renewal means we should look increasingly less like Empire … not more like it.

America is not "Christian" culture.

If our idea of becoming more like Christ makes us look more like Caesar or “normal” culture … we’ve chosen to become more like Barabbas, not Christ.

God is not silent regarding systemic abuse. He sent Jesus, who lived amid corrupt systems, and He stood against anything and everything that deformed, crushed, and destroyed humanity, including religious leaders.

3/ Any system that limits a person’s voice, autonomy, and inherent value … does not emulate Christic example or His coming Kingdom.

Any ideology or theology that willingly pushes others down with a promise of later elevation … denies the present and finished work of the Cross.

2/ When it looks like flawed normal human nature, behaves like Caesar, or acts like normal human society … it cannot be of Christ, promote Christ, or draw anyone to Christ.

Any choice, policy, or action that degrades our fellow man … is not of Christ.

1/ A reminder: Caesar’s tools cannot and will never build the coming Kingdom of Christ … nor can it build a flawed facsimile. Likewise, nothing born of Christ, Christ’s character, or Christ’s mission which represents the heart of God … will ever build anything remotely akin to Caesar’s kingdom.
