Shoutout to all my homies that are going to see The Aquabats tonight. Today was my last day of teaching, so I wasn't able to fly out for the show/summit, but know that I'm going to rock out to their discography today and tomorrow so at least I feel like I'm there.

I'm excited. I have a campus visit for a tenure-track position at a Midwest university. It's not a done deal yet, so I don't want to jinx it, but I have a good feeling about this one.
It would be so nice to be able to settle down somewhere for at least 6 or 7 years, or possibly for good.

Just made some fresh hummus, but I guess I used too much garlic. It had a little spiciness to it that made my tongue feel weird. Still tasty, though. I highly recommend it if you have a food processor (one of the best wedding presents we got, imho).

A couple days ago I made the reckless decision to play DnD the night before I started teaching at a prestigious institution. But this roleplay moment came up in the first 10 min for my character, so I think it was the right choice.

Phew! After a long long road trip, we arrived safely at our new apartment, despite a big storm. One day in and we already have wifi, a new turtle tank, food, decorations, curtains, and many other odds and ends.
Our moving truck is still two weeks out, but 仕方がない (can't be helped).

Was hoping to be on the road tonight, but working with the moving crew wiped me out, and the car still needs packing. Kinda bummed the turtle tank will have to stay and be a wash, but that's that, I suppose. We should have sent it on the moving truck, but it probably would have broken in transit.

Well, from what I've read, seems like Coach Walz was the right choice. Gotta love a coach that helped start a GSA in the friggin 90s; I remember the casual homophobia back then.
Anyway, I'm sure as a coach if he told me to take a lap, I'd know there's a good reason for it so I'd get running.

We're packing up for our move cross continent. First time ever that I'll live on the East Coast. I hope I don't get run out of town for not owning boat shoes. Or a boat. I have no idea what level of classism to expect.
