Reminder that Congress could, at any time, pass legislation canceling these tariffs and then vote to override a veto.

As prices rise and your 401(k) falls, don't let lawmakers get away with acting like powerless observers of the onslaught. Together they can kill it if they want.

How to (Self-)Destroy a Hegemon in 6 Easy Steps:

1. Wreck academia + science infrastructure
2. Erect massive tariff barriers + supercharge econ inequality
3. Re-segregate your (very) diverse military
4. Destroy elements of soft power (e.g., USAID)
5. Dismantle your democracy
6. Nuke immigration

My alma mater. Shameful.
When civil society institutions — big law firms, Ivy League institutions — cave to Trump rather than fight what appear to be illegal demands, do they expect him to be satisfied and stop? Do they believe others should step in and fight where they have not?

Journos should pose to GOP electeds: in what ways are you personally accepting some reduced services in the interest of efficiencies? Have you cut your office staff? Have you removed your children from your health insurance in the interests of efficiency? If not, why not?

Seems like we're going to need to hit the streets soon. When are we going to get a Shadow Cabinet? The Dems should have boycotted the SOTU.

Mocking is a longstanding and essential strategy against autocrats (we call it trolling now). Denmark's offer to buy California is excellent. Other countries should follow with tweeted offers to buy other parts of the US. All his ridiculous policies should be mocked with mountains of trolling.

The inspector generals should make a lot of noise on the way out. Once out, they should go on the news shows and make more noise. More generally, Dems should create chaos of their own by obstructing and delaying anything and everything as much as possible. We just need to get to the 2026 elections.

Couldn't agree more.
The largest best functioning multi-ethnic democracy with the best institutions of higher education, the strongest military, the reserve currency, allies as far as the eye can see, and this administration wants autocracy, purity tests, purges, crypto, and going it alone. Hegemonic suicide.

We need a more concerted strategy of organization to resist. We need an broad umbrella movement for liberals along the lines of Principles First for conservatives. It would be outside the Dem party (though working with it). Let's call our movement "The Better Option" (something positive).

One way to get rid of Musk: Journos should repeatedly pose question to Trump and spox: "People are saying that Musk is the brains behind the administration. Is that true?" Trump can't stand that idea. That's how Bannon got the boot in Trump 1.
Is a drugged up Elon Musk still chattering on Spaces after midnight with ill-informed rantings? We have to make Musk so unpopular that Trump has no choice but to boot him into Ramaswamy land. He is the albatross around Trump's neck.

Target your ire when you call Senators and Rep's tomorrow.

Senators should be on the Capitol steps, in front of microphones, calling for Mike Johnson & John Thune to fulfill their constitutional obligations under Article I, reigning in the lawless authoritarianism happening in the Executive Branch, or else resigning.

No, it won't work. That's not the point
Senators should be in front of Treasury & every other Department, with cameras & law enforcement, asking to see government identification from every "DOGE personnel" person trying to enter/exit the building

We need more of this. Could we see more obstruction from the rest of the Senate, please? @whitehouse.senate.gov @reed.senate.gov

Could we also replace Schumer as Senate minority leader? He is not up to the job in this era.

Here is what I would do if I was in the Senate:

- Vote against all Trump nominees
- Deny unanimous consent to slow senate proceedings
- Vote no on all cloture
- Force quorum calls at every chance

Democrats hands aren't totally tied. They just don't want to play dirty. I could literally do it alone

We need a Dem shadow government. Dem ex-governors and ex-members of Congress can lead. We need liberal millionaires to step up and fund a staff. We need to form a more formalized "Blue State federation" that will coordinate policy. We should call all this "The Better Option" - something positive.

My first post here: We may need to start studying the "color" revolutions in Eastern Europe, beginning by adopting a symbol of resistance (badges, colors, flowers, logos). Dems in Congress are not going to save us; Supremes may not either. We may have to think about popular uprising.
