Strongly suspect that the old adage that code is twice as difficult to debug as it is to write initially also applies to AI-written code

It's not going to be able to help you fix its own errors

Good thread from Sarah!

Don't blindly copy-paste code generated by ai. At least review it

And, please, use ai more like an assistant, not as code generator(weird buggy code generator actually)
I have a passive theory that the manner in which junior and senior devs leverage AI assistance for coding is fundamentally different: (1/?)

the most beneficial effect of many boycotts is on yourself

'but that won't hurt company x' is often irrelevant

I'm taking back some agency
I'm aligning my actions with my beliefs
I feel better for it

that's good enough

in fact, imo it's better than punishment as a motive

Annoyed your apple devices using bullshit extensions? Just throw them in a trash bin 🥰

No need to install anything
💡 Annoyed when your iPhone sends an HEIC file? Macs have a built-in conversion tool called sips:

sips -s format jpeg input.heic --out output.jpg

No need to install image magick even

Hey did you know that the two most productive people I have ever had on my teams have been people I was told to fire for performance reasons?

This is why it’s so important to:
1) hear context from previous managers but not anchor to it
2) give people clear feedback and give them a chance

TypeScript 5.8 just shipped erasableSyntaxOnly mode 🎉

It matches Node's built-in TypeScript support, guiding users away from...

TS-only runtime features
❌ enum
❌ namespace
❌ parameter properties
❌ import x =

Legacy type features
❌ <> type assertions

Remember: TS = JS + Types 💙
TypeScript 5.8 is released 🎉

🔶 "nodenext" gets require(ESM)
🔶 "nodenext" deprecates Import Assertions
🔷 --erasableSyntaxOnly flag for Node
🔷 Granular return checks
🔷 DTS: Computed property name preservation
🔷 Perf: --libReplacement flag
🔷 Perf: Program load optimizations
TypeScript 5.8 is now out, with

✅ Better Checks on return expressions
✅ Support for require(esm) in --module nodenext
✅ --libReplacement to speed up program loading
✅ --erasableSyntaxOnly

and more! Try it today!

Imagine being so insecure that you hold most of the earth’s resources- you could single-handedly end world hunger, do massive dent in advancing cancer research.

And instead you vow to rip apart government and tech employment and infrastructure, and lie about playing video games.

If you decide to take a break from social media, don't announce it. Instead, make your last post something
interesting like, "Guys, there's the cutest family of black bears over there. I'm gonna go grab a photo. brb."

Вообще удивлён насколько Home Assistant оказался продуманным и качественным опенсорсом.

Например, у них уже есть свой голосовой ассистент, чтобы выключать свет голосом. И там можно даже локальную LLM подключить.
