Life can be good too. The friendly Chechen cable guy saying that he has a couple of old Orbi devices lying around and selling them for €50, @eve.gd providing clear instructions to convert an RBR50 into an RBS50, and I now have 4 instead of 2 satellites in my WiFi mesh. Yay! eve.gd/2021/07/28/m...
Mesh on a budget: converting RBR50 to RBS50 units and using LBR20 for 4G fallback
For quite some time, I’ve wanted to have an internet system that could fallback to a 4G connection if the primary internet connection failed. This would be helpful for when I need to work/go to online...

They suck and aren’t useful.
There are a lot of critiques of LLMs that I agree with but "they suck and aren't useful" doesn't really hold water.

I understand people not using them because of social, economic, and environmental concerns. And I also understand people using them because they can be very useful.

Thoughts?

Hello! The US housing market has gotten very expensive, but I still dream of one day owning a home in a walkable neighborhood. In that spirit, I'm offering my consulting services. If you support the Trump tariffs, I can help you find US suppliers. Let me show you some examples. 🧵

What I don’t understand is that in the current situation well-meaning Americans are arguing about whether or not they/others should use the word fascism instead of fighting it.

Completely worth reading (and a recommendation of the author and @bellingcat.com in general). It helped me make sense of a few things.
🧵 I want to follow up this earlier thread by examining why the USA finds itself in the state it does at the moment; the process of disordered discourse capturing state institutions and how it inevitably results in a slide towards authoritarianism, a process we're seeing unfold before our very eyes.
What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

Needs to be a lot more regulation, and public scrutiny, of bottled water industry.

For a start, consumers don’t know that many brands are essentially just tap water —and others have a lower health standard than tap water.

Then there’s impact of shipping them around.

Maybe tax water extraction?
