The entire reason we created the ACA and Medicaid expansion is many jobs don’t offer health insurance, and certainly those who work as contractors or consultants are not employees. They all understand this and are just saying crazy shit up there all the time. Ugly bill will hurt entrepreneurship.

I've covered race for two decades. I knew the 2nd Trump Admin would be dangerous for civil rights. Yet the collapse of the federal civil rights architecture and national will to address racial inequality and work on integration is stunning. Here's my latest. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/m...

With the NIH cuts, there’s no longer any excuse for any professor, in any discipline, to not address the moment in their classes. You don’t even have to be “political” if that’s how you roll; this changes everything. You need only observe reality. 1/

Setting quotas of arrests per day. You know what happens when you have a quota to meet? Scoop them up and let the court sort it out. They will be grabbing anyone they can. No proof of citizenship on your person? Too bad. That’s an arrest. Look “illegal?” Explain it to the court someday.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

I'm glad Pete Hegseth has pledged not to drink if he is confirmed as Defense Secretary. So, I guess he can still sexually harass women, mismanage funds, discriminate against women service members, push for a Christian Nationalist agenda, and be a virulent Islamaphobe?

Super duper.

They figured out the democracy hack. Extreme gerrymandering removes the need for winning the office. You only need the power.
I rang the alarm on this Republican tactic last year. Removing power from the office when Democrats win, is the final act in making voting irrelevant once the legislatures are gerrymandered. It’s happening all over the country. Read about it here: slate.com/news-and-pol...

Black kids have to learn to be superheroes to survive in America while white kids get to be children because white ADULTS like RFK Jr. refuse to prioritize racial justice.
Trump HHS nominee RFK Jr.:

If you give Black children “resilience” then “the inevitable racism” will “bounce off” them like they are “the Avengers” because “they will be immune to it” and “then we don’t have to stop racism altogether, because we’re never going to be able to do that.”

conservatives spent decades equating abortion with murder. liberals spent decades slut shaming women by claiming it should only be rare. but it’s either the first thing or it’s just another basic medical procedure. this is a prime example of centrism revealing itself to be the refuge of cowards.
