Nerdy kid at keyboard: Hi guys, I've noticed that it is International Men's Day today, and I'm confused. Why do we need a day to talk about men? We're not a marginalised group like women, queer people, or people of colour. The media is already full of stories about men. Big buff shirtless dude at keyboard: I'm glad you asked, champ. Whatever your view on men's place in society, it's still true that we face a lot of issues - like social isolation, risk of suicide, health problems, and attitudes towards sex and child rearing. Having a day to talk about those doesn't take away from anyone else's problems. In fact, having a day to talk about them helps us be more mindful, and listen better at other times. Second shirtless buff dude on a couch at his laptop: The chief here is really on to something. I want to echo what he said, and also point out that the idea we should remain silent about our problems actually contributes to a lot of our issues. We are human beings, with human needs. Seeking mutual support and understanding isn't the same thing as placing a burden on others. Especially if we're providing it for each other. Third buff dude at his laptop: Right on, my fellow kings. We've inherited a social legacy of competition and division, and a lot of what makes a man in our era is under question. IMD is a chance for us to examine and rethink what we are together, and build the bonds of solidarity and support that will make a better way possible - like in this meme. Because in our hearts, we're all curious kids and buff guys on keyboards.

When I bought the #diecomic RPG Quickstart Edition this weekend, I got a set of dice with it. Which was, let’s be real, a crazy bargain. But what’s more important is that I did a test role to check this set’s karma, as you do, and I used the percentile dice and got 69. Dangerous dice to RP with?

I did it! To the best of my knowledge, I've now read every last Krakoan X-Men comic published, including digital and shorts in Marvel Voices specials and the like. Took me a bit to work up to reading the Fall, but it was as I expected--I didn't like it ending, but it was told in very good comics.

Since they started putting in glass fiber lines for extra expensive internet in my neighborhood, the salesmen/scammers have been so persistent that they've apparently pavloved me into flying into a rage if I unexpectedly see or hear the term.

I would have liked a more left-leaning election result (by like, a LOT) but on the positive side it looks like we might get a prime minister who is aware of what the concepts of "charisma" and "human warmth" mean? The last time that happened... I don't remember that ever happening.

It's been a while, so here are my Ten Rules For Writing.
The Ten Rules for Writing: 1) Never write with a Pen. Real Writers only write with a sausage, dipped in the blood of other writers. 2) Kill your darlings. If you don't have any darlings, smash some peas with your fist. 3) Get used to explaining why you are crying to your pets. 4) A lot of your best ideas will come to you when you are staring into space, wondering why you are alive. 5) Always introduce yourself as a writer. Eventually, all the other people waiting for the bus will back away and just let you get on first. 6) Anything can be writing. A poem, a shopping list, running around B&Q naked with a hammer. 7) Creating characters with rich backstories and full lives is fun until you imagine them all silently watching you sleep, hour after hour, waiting to exist. 8) Every sentence you write must do one of three things, reveal character, advance plot, or provide the reader with an amazing opportunity to purchase Bitcoin. 9) Ignore advice. Unless it's coming from a disembodied voice telling you to get out of a creepy abandoned slaughterhouse. 10) Get over spells of worrying about your writing being pointless and meaningless by cleverly remembering that everything you do is pointless and meaningless.

I want to rave about how wild the story of #Harvestella gets, considering how basic it starts, but it'd all be major spoilers, so everyone quickly go play this 70-hour game, then come chat about how this "fantasy" story has scathing things to say about very current fears for the future of humanity.

I read so many comics that sometimes I forget it actually takes time to finish comics. And then when the new Monstress hardcover comes out, I decide to reread the whole series (always a good choice) ignoring the fact that I'm trying to catch up on X-Men and have a GN to finish for book club too.
