For anyone like Orsman worried about “only” 19,000 people an hour using the city rail link at peak, just note that’s equivalent to double what the northern, northwestern and southern motorways *combined* can deliver to the city centre. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/aucklands...
Where did 8000 passengers go? The latest forecasts for $5.5b City Rail Link
The initial capacity is lower than earlier forecasts of 27,000 passengers.

Say what you like about German cuisine, they sure do have a competitive meat-bread ratio.

In this article, I make a not-entirely-serious case for ripping out Spaghetti Junction in Auckland, replacing it with a motorway tunnel, and redeveloping new city streets and neighbourhoods above it instead.

PSA: any food with the word butter in the name is not a healthy everyday food for children.
This is basically contempt for kids at this point.

So let me get this straight, the government is negotiating to pay Hyundai an extra $300m to make the boats smaller and deliver them four years later than scheduled?

So much for the Nats business acumen.

I think the title “bus driver” doesn’t do bus drivers justice. What should we call these heroes instead?

-Bus captains?
-Bus commanders?
-Bus masters?

Interesting theory, retail operators think all their customers come by car because drivers are more vocal about how terrible their transport is.
The theory is that customers who arrive by car often make that known to restaurant owners, managers, and staff. "Traffic was terrible" or "Ugh, it's so hard to find parking." Meanwhile, people who walk, bike or take transit don't say anything. That skews perceptions about how their patrons travel.
Do restaurant owners in Midtown and Lower Manhattan really think their customers arrive in private cars?
