This article about the fight against reapproval of Rosebank oilfield incidentally shows that so many MPs don’t grasp the issues with airport expansion.
“They can hold the line that you can make electric planes…”
For mass commercial flights, on any feasible timescale? This is pure fantasy.

Dear oh dear, can’t Labour try to do better than the Tories?
Adding carbon capture equipment to polluting factories sounds like a great idea, but scientists warn that Gov plans will actually make climate change worse. A thread on why 👇

But how has the Gov got it so so wrong? Well, it all boils down to a ridiculous assumption in a computer system...😮

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) rightly said:

“We need rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society."

That calls for visionary leadership.

Alex Chapman questions the economic literacy of Heathrow Airport expansion: “The claimed economic benefits of full-throttle airport expansion are minimal at best, at worst, they are actively unhelpful.”

More runways , more planes , more fossil fuels . It’s not just sitting idly by , it’s actively accelerating climate collapse in the reckless pursuit of growth in archaic industries instead of a rapid transition to a green economy .

A third runway will be a disaster - not just for climate targets - but for our economy too.

Climate change is happening now and is the biggest threat to economic growth.

In 2021, Reeves said she wanted to become Britain’s “first green chancellor”.
Today she said she will cut Environmental Impact Assessments and allow Heathrow airport to expand. She knows‘sustainable’ aviation is an oxymoron. She’s ignoring the CCC’s advice.
Just another untrustworthy politician

Please write to your MP as soon as possible. We must tell our MPs how much we oppose expansion of Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and any other airport
Do NOT let Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports expand. "The massive climate damage caused by these schemes would create deep physical and economic hardship for millions and wipe out any benefit from the government's other climate policy efforts almost overnight."
