Southern type happily adopted by Masham (where I programme music and comedy at the Town Hall), by Yorkshire, and by @janrreed. Culture, quizzing, market town life, bit of sport, serendipity. He/him.
Neither more nor less appealing

I regard it as my greatest parenting achievement that the child was unaware of the Thomas world until the age of 4/5

When we lived in Wanstead, it was often quicker to get to my BFF in Wolverhampton than my sister in Morden 😒

I left the biggest voluntary donation ever at Bristol Cathedral a) because it was voluntary and b) they had the most gorgeous welcome message by the door. I loved my visit there and their whole approach to their slavery connections was just perfect

She came through Masham yesterday and looked broken. Sooner or later one of these DJ charity things will go badly wrong.

That’s exactly where I’m at. De La Soul is obviously the better album, but did they go on TOTP 8 months pregnant and totally rule? No they did not.

How wonderful, well done indeed. And I am on record as regarding Roam as the happiest song imaginable.

I have voted for Neneh purely in order that her inevitable, and sadly justified, defeat is not as bad as it could be.

Yes. Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep were repeat offenders in the 80s, Meryl’s much better since she dropped that and discovered a sense of humour. Worst single accent - Daniel Day Lewis in Phantom Thread.

The B-52's could have written I Wanna Be Adored, but the Stone Roses could never have written Dead Beat Club.

The Essex Serpent did that for me ☺️

Paul’s Boutique is a great album. But does it contain anything as good as Express Yourself? Or Cherish? Or Like a Prayer’s title track? No it does not.

Huh. My immediate thought was “PG Wodehouse in never-seen genuinely nasty mode”, and of course Chandler and Wodehouse were school contemporaries. Dulwich College sure taught how to write prose.
