Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life.

The man is dead, and so it only seems fair to share his legacy by cataloguing the values he spread while alive.

That we consider anyone who doesn't hate us an ally.

That bare minimum shit don't be moving any of us who actually have sense and have no desire to be a token gay in the group.

If you:
• Still date men/women who are homophobic
• Vote against LGBTQ+ rights
• Stay silent

You are NOT an ally.
3. What is a common misconception about the LGBTQ community?

All this talk of National Weather Service hiring but 20% of contractors for EMC just got fired. I survived but over a dozen people that work on models, data assimilation, observation processing, etc just got fired. We can’t get better weather forecasts to you if the models aren’t upgraded

NWS is announcing there’s no hiring freeze for it but they still let go hundreds of Feds in a RIF (mass firing) and many contractors are about to hit end of contract year RIFs in a month so idk what we’re doing here.

In news media, it’s always “Congress voted to screw your lives up” or “the Supreme Court took your rights away”, never actually calling them out and saying “republicans screwed you”, and that’s why

1. People equate the two parties
2. People don’t know how gov works.

Maybe that’s the point?

NOAA is having an all hands with the commerce secretary. It started 3 minutes ago and he’s already brought up his friendship with Trump, blasted the media, cried, and brought up his brother that died in 9/11.

Have you ever looked at a weather map online? Or seen a nice visualization of weather forecast model output? If so, NSF Unidata almost certainly made that possible in one way or another.

Modern meteorological education would not be possible without the data, tools, and resources they provide.
Due to the current gap in funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the NSF Unidata Program is pausing most operations effective 12 May 2025. Nearly all staff will be furloughed until funds from our existing NSF grant become available. For more information, see buff.ly/d2TC1Oy
