All of my group chats are responding to Homan’s announcement by asking everyone to double down because:

1. ICE is still out there and abducting people today. We can’t trust the occupation is over until we actually see it.

2. People are going to be in an economic crisis for a very long time.

ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

When asked why SUVs reduce throughput, Levinson says, “Well, first there’s their physical size – they literally take up more space on the road, and it takes them longer to brake because of mass and momentum.” - @lauriewinkless.bsky.social h/t @transportist.net

My latest Forbes article is all about SUVs. Specifically, it delves into two new research papers - one from traffic engineering, and one from public health - that shows how these increasingly-popular (and increasingly large) vehicles come with major downsides 🧪

SUVs Make Traffic Worse And Are More Dangerous Than Cars
Two new research papers show the downsides of upsizing our vehicles. SUVs have a disproportionate impact on traffic jams, and they injure more people than cars

Upon learning that your own mistake sent an innocent father to a brutal prison where he’s likely to be tortured, anyone with a shred of decency would be overcome with shame and fight like hell to get him back.

A key jailhouse informant was revealed to have implicated Jimmie Duncan in exchange for “help in other areas.”

He later admitted Duncan “never said he was guilty” and mostly spent time with his “head down … mumbling and crying to himself.”

Unsettling from @anneapplebaum.bsky.social:Trump isn't just trying to bully the media into submission. He's also conditioning the public to see the use of state power to cow independent truth telling as normal, and persuading MAGA to see it as good.

It's the Constitution. Federally, votes in more rural, less populous parts of the country that have taken to conservative ideology most easily count more. Votes in more urban, populous, and liberal parts of the country count much less, with a few exceptions. Simple as that.
It’s just frustrating that the right wing never has to do shit, even when they lose. Never have to reach out, to welcome, to understand, to moderate their positions. They get to be who they are & never apologize for it and people will blame progressives for not putting up with that shit
